What
could be more sensual than naked skin?
The sensuality of
nudity is a field worth exploring. Most nudists feel that sensuality is
a part of the adventure and delight of being alive and being nude. The
one key factor that many people misunderstand is that sensuality and
sexuality are not the same thing.
The definition of
SENSUALITY is – “relating to or consisting in the gratification of
the senses or the indulgence of appetite.”
This is not to say that those appetites consist solely of sexual
pursuit, although this can
be one expression of sensuality. One can pursue sensual delight in
foods, fabric, choice of entertainment, etc. Sensuality has many faces.
SEXUALITY, on the other
hand, is defined as – “the quality or state of being sexual.”
This definition is far
more narrow than that for sensuality.
Sexuality specifically relates to sexual practice and pursuit.
More and more people,
from all walks of life, are moving into the forefront in defense of
nudity, a nudist lifestyle and nude activity. They are certainly not
promoting free sex or licentious behavior. What they are doing is
letting others know that to be nude is both a liberating and a sensual
experience.
People who delight in
nudity as an almost-spiritual pursuit have one thing in common. They
feel comfortable with who they are and can express that without the
addition of fashion. Between the sensitive skin areas and the spiritual
centers, the body is a myriad of delight and heightened erotica. These
erotic sensations are not sexual in origin, but develop as the senses of
humanness come into play. People who enjoy nudity are aware of their
sensual tastes and have little trouble expressing that which they find
sensual on many levels.
The basic principal of
being nude is to express freedom and individuality without the aid of
clothing. To be ourselves and feeling comfortable with who we are and
what we enjoy is a central pursuit among nude people.
