A Nudist Speaks Out
I had my introduction to nudism at the age of 11 when I was attending a well known grammar school in Manchester, England. After gym class we were required to go for a swim in the pool and swimsuits were not allowed. I discovered the joy of swimming nude and have avoided wearing a swimsuit ever since...
My introduction to social nudity in the company of both sexes came a few years later when I became a member of the White House club near Caterham in Surrey. After I married I tried to persuade my wife to join me but she refused. She did however come with me to the nudist beach near Sandwich in Kent where we enjoyed sunbathing in the nude together in the safe confines of the sand dunes.
Gay would not venture out of the dunes to accompany me as I walked along the beach where I encountered others enjoying the sun and the sand without the encumbrance of clothing. I quickly found out how wonderful it felt to walk the beach feeling the sun and air flowing over my naked body.
I did not give up on trying to get Gay to try social nudity and eventually she agreed, I think to humour me and get it out of my system. By that time we were living in Newcastle-upon-Tyne so I arranged to visit the TANDO club which was close to our
home. We went on a day when I knew it would be quiet, parked our car, took our clothes off and settled down in the sunning area for a picnic lunch.
After an hour or so Gay had to leave for a dental appointment. When she returned she was followed into the grounds by another car driven by a man. They both got out of their cars, stripped off and walked down together in the nude to join me. At that moment I knew that Gay had become a naturist.
Over the next little while we became frequent visitors to TANDO and also went on nudist vacations to South Hants and Sheplegh Court in Devon. Gay's parents also enjoyed sunbathing and getting a good tan so we told them we had taken up sunbathing au naturel. They were really intrigued by the idea but were reluctant to join us, although I think they did start sunbathing in the nude in the privacy of their back yard.
A few years later we moved to Canada. We lived in Ottawa, Ontario where we bought a house with a pool and totally private yard where we could continue to live the naturist lifestyle which we both now enjoyed so much. By this time Gay was so comfortable with her nudity that if a meter reader or whoever came into the yard while she was nude she would simply ask what he wanted.
We soon found out that several of our new friends preferred to go swimming in the nude so clothing optional became the norm at our pool. We didn't join a naturist club but we did take a vacation at Paradise Lakes in Florida shortly after it opened in 1981 or 1982.
Ultimately Gay and I drifted apart, separated and divorced. By that time I had met
Georgia, the wonderful lady who is now my second wife. When we were planning a vacation together I naturally suggested we go to a nudist resort, specifically Paradise Lakes.
She was not enthusiastic to say the least but after she had thought about it and we had talked about her quite natural concerns she agreed to go. Her reasoning was that she'd always been prepared to try anything once and that I wouldn't ask her to do something that wasn't right. For my part I agreed we'd leave right away if she didn't like it.
I needn't have worried. We arrived at Paradise late in the evening after a long travel day. After we had checked into our room I said "let's go to the hot tub to relax."
"What, with nothing on?" said Georgia. "Of course" I replied. So off we went to the tub, took our robes off, showered and joined a few other couples in the water.
After a few minutes Georgia got out and sat on the side of the tub to cool off. You can imagine the pleasure I felt when she said to me "there's nothing to this, you don't even notice that no-one has anything on." She too had become a nudist.
We had a great vacation and in the 13 years since have not been anywhere but nudist or clothing optional resorts for our vacations. We've been to Lake Como and Cypress Cove in Florida as well as returning to Paradise many times. Also Hidden Valley in Georgia and Ponderosa and Four Seasons in Ontario. Outside of North America we've visited resorts in Mexico, Cuba, Spain (we honeymooned at Vera Playa), Lanzarote and Yugoslavia.
Georgia told me during that first vacation at Paradise that becoming a nudist was the best thing that ever happened to her and she wished she'd done it years earlier. We joined the nudist club near Ottawa and made many good friends some of which we still have, even though we don't go to the club any more.
Now we are both retired and are enjoying a wonderful life together. We spend the winter in Florida where we are members of the Lake Como Family Nudist Resort. We visit Como several times a week and spend a relaxing few hours on the beach or by the pool.
In the summer we are primarily home nudists although we do try to get away for a couple of mini-vacations at nudist resorts or clothing optional bed and breakfasts in Ontario. At home we are invariably nude about the house and we have an indoor hot tub where of course we are always nude. The hot tub room is called 'Bare Country' so our friends and family know that if they wish to join us in the tub they must take all their clothes off, which usually they do.
So that is my naturist/nudist story. For Georgia and I being nude indoors or outdoors gives us the most wonderful feeling of total freedom and relaxation we have ever experienced. We can't think of a better way to get away from the stress of the modern world than to take our clothes off, either at home or in a social setting. Georgia told me many times that a day in the nude at Como is as beneficial for her as a week's vacation in the textile world. I couldn't agree more. And for both of us there is nothing to beat the experience of walking along a sandy beach totally nude enjoying the experience of freedom from clothing and feeling the sun on our bodies as we obtain a wonderful all-over tan.
We just feel so good so if you haven't tried naturism yet give it a go - we're certain you won't regret it, and for those of you who are already naturists we're sure you'll agree it's the best lifestyle known to man.
P.S. I'd just add that my first wife, Gay, also remarried and lost little time in introducing her new husband to the naturist lifestyle. Once you've tried it, you can't give it up!
