Natural - Inside and Out

Many nudists, people who feel comfortable in the "raw", are often more conscious of their health and health issues, in general.  Those who live more "natural" lifestyles, tend to gravitate toward a more natural way of eating, exercising and living.

Awareness of their bodies can spur nudists to healthier choices in life; often, you'll find things the other way round, as well.  After taking on healthier eating habits, exercising in earnest, they decide to consider the idea of natural (un)dress.

The idea of eating vegetarian, or raw, low fat or non-dairy diets can be appealing to the nudist who is fully aware of the "visible" aspects of his/her chosen social situations. Being nude for many people is, at first, inhibiting. Throw in some winter weight, winter white skin and a stretch mark or two, and you have the perfect recipe for self-conscious tension.  People who decide they like to remove their clothes and live that way, are more apt to pay more attention to taking better care of their bodies.

One somewhat-common thread weaving among many nudists is a veering toward dietary changes like the new raw foods movement, vegetarianism and the like.  These styles of eating appeal to those who seek a more "natural" natural approach.  The high raw foodists believe that the whole nutrition and complete enzyme function of raw fruits and vegetables, raw nuts and cheeses, contributes to regrowth of hair color, weight loss, youthful skin and a definite twinkle in the eye.  Add to this complete sense of wellness, the ability to shed our clothes and enjoy our own company and the company of others without the restriction that clothes can impose.  Imagine this ultimate kind of in-tuneness about living more naturally.

The lifestyle that includes nudism and healthier eating is no longer relegated to the flower-strewn, VW bus ways of the hippie.  People from all walks of life and professions are choosing to take a more natural approach to their lives and this includes their health and the freedom to express themselves without clothing.

Many nudists find that their sense of well-being is strengthened and enhanced when they take care of themselves, often being more "in tune" with their bodies and it's needs. Body awareness is an integral part of what makes nudists comfortable in their own skin.  They feel good in their bodies.  People with body issues don’t generally shed their clothes and most especially in the company of others of both genders.  Naturists take a more at-ease approach.

Of course, you can always find those groups of nudists who throw the steaks on the b-b-q and crack open the cold beer keg.  All kinds of people are drawn to nudity.  However, you don’t generally find nudists who are shy.  Shyness and nudity don’t usually go hand in hand.  For the most part, nudists tend to be open and fun people who like to be in closer touch with nature and their more natural selves.  Often this includes the other areas of their lives.

With the movement toward naturism, people also may find themselves doing more soul-searching regarding their choices of career or work-related ethics.  Some are choosing to opt out of job choices that involve destruction or the imposing of imbalances on nature and the environment.  One such nudist, after three years of loving the naturist lifestyle, decided that his job in a lumber mill just didn’t fit with his new-found and deeply felt convictions about preservation of the environment and wildlife. Ethics may not seem like a part of the life of a naturist, but it lays the foundations for our behavior.  Our convictions lead us down the paths we take in life and nudity and naturism allow us to see the world as the interactive, inter-dependent place it is.

Those who practice nudism have a clear understanding of the limits imposed by puritanical social norms far outdated.  Laws and prudity that has no place in modern society any longer. Personal freedoms are paramount to existing peacefully on this planet and in places like Europe, nudity is understood as a normal and natural addition to a healthy life.  Nude sauna or showers, naturist activities and more expressions of natural living are an accepted and extensive part of life.  In North America, however, the puritanical beginning of America has left its mark, leaving a division of thought with regard to the naked body and societal acceptance hinges on many aspects, not of few of which are related to politics, economy and religion.

What it all boils down to in the final analysis, is just how comfortable one is with their bodies.  Some naturists prefer to keep their nudity private and practice nudism at home.  Others feel comfortable in social situations with other naked people and have no trouble having fun in these settings.  Either way, nudists, whether meat-eating bbq weekenders, or vegetarian raw-food-eating neo-hippies, all feel their keen connection to the outdoors and nature.  The nudity they choose to practice is an extension of what is really going on on the inside…a personal growth toward personal freedom…on their own terms.
