Where Were You…
When the lights went on?
Do you remember your
first “real” spiritually nude moment?
Do you remember how you felt, suddenly “naked before God” and
the Universe? Some of us
hold dearly to that memory, feeling the fullness of the powers that be
and suddenly understanding that our bodies are sacred.
At the oddest times,
that memory, that fullness can come cascading out and fill us all over
again. That being the
beauty of spiritual energy; it can be used again and again.
It can be coveted. No
sin to covet our spirituality while sharing it with the world.
How do we do both at the same time?
We express ourselves as we would hope others would express
themselves.
In the age of extreme everything,
nudists and others who practice non-mainstream lifestyles (AND common
sense) understand that we must show by example. We comprehend that which
shows us to be happy in our choices, to the world at large, we then gain
acceptance of the alternative lifestyle, albeit slowly. Change takes
time. Things like nudity are well accepted in Europe, but here in North
America, people don’t take nudity lightly. It’s still a “big
deal”. However, the acceptance of nudity as a non-sexual way of life
is becoming more prevalent in the sociological sense. The topless law in
Toronto that allows women the freedom of being without a shirt was
fought and won on the basis of a woman’s breasts NOT being sexual
organs.
You’ll find more and more nude
beaches around North America. Some
may be a flash in the pan and others might be here to stay.
Whatever happens with nudity as a public state of being, those of us who practice and maintain our spirituality
without fear or shame of our nude selves, continue to thrive and we
teach our children that their bodies are wonderful mechanisms of life
and experience.
What Some of You
Say...
"I had my first real
nudist experience when I was seventeen and I was changed forever. I'll
never forget that first experience as a young nudist. It was both
frightening and exhilarating and liberating all at the same time, but
after I got used to it a bit, it was heaven."
"I knew that I had
this persistent desire to be nude, but I didn’t know why. I’m not
talking about just in the shower or in the locker room while changing or
situations like that – my desire was to be nude anytime and anyplace
where it would be practical and possible – indoors or out."
"Nudist activity
seemed the next logical progression after my husband and I did our
Samhain rites in full skyclad and loved it!"
