"Nudity is a common subject both in fine arts and popular culture.
Nudity is the state of wearing no clothing. It is sometimes used to refer to wearing significantly less clothing than expected by the conventions of a particular culture and situation, and in particular exposing the bare skin of intimate parts. The term topless is sometimes used to describe the lack of clothing covering the breasts.
The nude is also a genre of representational art, especially painting and sculpture, that depicts people without clothes on, usually with stylistic and staging conventions that distinguish the artistic elements (such as innocence, or similar theatrical/artistic elements) of being nude with the neutral point of view of being naked. (See the Nude naked stripped continuum.)
Nudists are those who believe that nakedness has a positive value. Thus nudism as a belief, or lifestyle, puts a positive spin on public nakedness. Another positive-spin term for public nakedness is naturism. Some nudists refer to themselves as naturists."
