Nude Spirituality – An
alternative for many
Many people are finding that naked
worship, no matter the faith, creates a perfect platform of personal
expression. These people want to feel closer to their higher power and can
do this by shedding their clothes and standing before god in the manner
they were born.
For some, the transition requires
courage and a deep faith. For others, shedding their garments can be a
natural thing they’ve waited for and desired.
Anya and Marshal came forward to
express their opinions on nudism and spirituality.
Anya:
I was quite accustomed to nudity
as a young girl. My family is from Switzerland so nudity wasn’t a big
deal. Europeans are far more comfortable with their bodies than are
Americans. When we moved here I was 17, so the transition to American teen
life was a difficult one. We basically left our nudism behind.
I’ve retaken to nudity in both our home and our social club, with
zeal. I love being naked and take off my clothes at every possible chance.
Marshal, on the other hand, is taking a bit longer to adjust.
Marshal:
Anya is right. I’m taking a bit
longer to get used the nudist lifestyle and forms of worship. When we
decided to attend a nude healing circle, we discussed it for quite a while
before committing. I wanted to know the etiquette, rules, etc. Luckily we
have a dear friend who helped us
through, every step of the way.
The gathering was amazing. A large
group of nude, raw-foodist, earth healers. All of us coming together for
personal and global healing. We ate together, from feasts of raw foods,
salads, fruits and bean dishes. We danced and prayed in great naked
circles. No one stared. No one gawked. If the occasional erection
occurred, people generally ignored it, moving away to explore some other
aspect of the gathering. I felt very comfortable in that circumstance.
Others, not so much, but that one stands out as one of the best days of my
life with Anya.
Anya:
We both continue to socialize with
this great group of people. We are raw-foodists and enjoy the potluck
aspects of our get-togethers. The nudity becomes almost a backdrop for the
real issues and we value that perspective. We appreciate the fact that
it’s not a WOW thing. Not an issue. Nudism should be as unimportant as
the color of carpeting if viewed correctly. Enjoyment of the body without
clothes is wonderful, but the nudism itself is something that once you get
used to it, it becomes unimportant.
